The system provides double filtration before ionizing the incoming water:

Firstly, the water passes through a carbon and sediment filter to neutralize unpleasant tastes and scents.
Secondly, the processed water passes through another carbon and calcium sulfite filter (food grade) to normalize the level of mineralization with the effect of good calcium.
These filters are removable and replaceable. A twist-and-lock mechanism used allows firm fixation.

With the Living Water you will never have to worry about maintenance. The unit conducts a cleaning cycle in auto mode every 12 minutes of use. Furthermore, even annual cleaning can be performed at home with the port adapter and regular cleaning kit.
